Running
dpkg -i /tmp/gitignorer_v1.0.0_amd64.deb
leads to

dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/gitignorer_v1.0.0_amd64.deb (--install):
 parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/control' near line 4 package 'gitignorer':
 error in 'Version' field string 'v1.0.0': version number does not start with digit
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/gitignorer_v1.0.0_amd64.deb

Whoops! My bad.

Just made a new release with fixed Debian packages. Check it out over at https://github.com/zachlatta/gitignorer/releases/tag/1.0.1.
