On nitter.net, profile pictures, profile banners, in-line images and videos, on any account that I look up does not properly display itself. In place where an image or video should be is just a "?" symbol. Do I not have a certain setting enabled? Is there a specific instance that handles media better?

This sometimes happens for unknown reasons, but it should work just fine right now. Are you unable to load media now?

Well it happens any time I'm using Nitter.net. I just searched up a profile 2 mins ago (from when I'm writing this) and wasn't able to load any media. I would prefer to use Nitter over Twitter, but with media not loading on Nitter I'm gonna have to go back to using Twitter.

Weird, are you testing with various profiles? Try ctrl-shift-r to force reload.

Yes, I am testing with various profiles.

Btw, I should have mentioned that I mostly use nitter.net on mobile (iPhone 15, iOS 17, Safari/Chrome). But even on my PC I still have issues loading media (with various profiles, and with force reloading).

Still ongoing, btw. I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong orrr? Tested with various profiles. Tested with different browsers. Media just doesn't want to load on nitter.net and I have to use Twitter again.

Ok, yeah, a different instance definitely works much better. Is there something up with the main nitter.net site though?

Sometimes, but it shouldn't be so bad as to prevent any images at all from loading 100% of the time. Is that actually the case? Remember to force reload.

It's a good majority of the time. I'll have to force reload several times before images and videos finally start loading.

Weird, please use another instance for the time being. This is quite difficult to figure out.

Reopening as this is clearly an important issue that affects several instance operators.

@PrivacyDevel @unixfox @drpepper66 @untitaker feel free to chime in. I haven't had time recently but I saw you were talking about it on Matrix.

It affects nitter.net quite badly and I'm not sure why. Sometimes I get an error page when opening an image directly, other times no pictures load sometimes only some load. I added media logging recently to monitor this problem, and I very often see several seconds of [media] Proxying exception, error: Network is unreachable. This is quite strange since API requests aren't failing in the same span of time, and the rest of the service continues working. I have no idea whether if it's a Twitter/X rate limit, an Nginx issue, or something else entirely. Nitter doesn't use an http pool for proxying images, meaning every connection is completely separate, so that wouldn't explain it.

i feel like this is something related to the networking config of the underlying machine, and not nitter itself.
