Thank you for checking out Gateway to Legend! You can find my webpage, where I host documentation and other helpful stuff, here: https://123outerme.github.io/Gateway-to-Legend/

If you want to play user-created map-packs, or upload one of your own, visit this page: https://gtlmappacks.firebaseapp.com/

>> Gameplay <<

Gameplay includes solving puzzles and defeating enemies. Small enemies can be defeated fairly easily, and provide a small amount of loot. Bosses are complex, difficult to fight, and provide large rewards!

>> Coins, Techniques, and the Upgrade Shop <<

You can collect coins by defeating enemies and bosses. You can use these coins to buy health upgrades and special techniques in the Upgrade Shop. Equip these powers to use new abilities like the Dash, Laser, and more!

>> Controls <<

The default controls are WASD to move (double-tap to Dash, if you have that equipped), Space to Interact (talk to NPCs or use your sword), L-Shift for Special (hold to stay facing a direction, double-tap to activate an Ability), and Escape for Menu (functions as a Back button, and opens the Overworld Menu while playing). To change your controls, visit Options->Controls. You can buy Abilities or increase your HP in the Upgrade Shop menu.

>> Legal Stuff <<

The word "I" refers to the creator of Gateway to Legend, Stephen Policelli. I did not write or modify the graphics library, SDL2, any of its extensions or previous versions, or any of its code. I did not create the font file PX_437_ITT_BIOS_X.ttf. However, I did slightly modify it, adding in one character. I originally wrote the code behind Gateway to Legend.

TL;DR version (which is not a substitute for the license):

  1. You may freely share and alter the font for any purpose
  2. You must give appropriate credit (which includes the author's name and a link to the original material)
  3. If you distribute your own adaptations, do so under a compatible license
  4. No warranties are given - whatever you do, I will not be held liable

(and yes, I stole the TL;DR version from the font pack readme)

All sounds used are royalty-free. Some sounds have different licenses, so I added the specific author and license information into the metadata of each sound file. They all have links to the type of license, or no license, in the case of those that are in Public Domain.
