Building

David Reed edited this page Oct 2, 2022 · 20 revisions

Requirements

  • Visual Studio 2019, 2021
  • The following workloads: Desktop Development with C++, Node.js development
  • The following individual components: C++ ATL for latest v142 build tools

Preparation

  • Download the latest release's source code or clone this repository for the latest commits and updates.
  • Enter lib/Release/
  • Extract libcrypto-1_1-static.lib from libcrypto-1_1-static.zip to the current folder

libcrypto-1_1-static.lib is over 100 MB, if it weren't compressed then the repo can't be pushed to GitHub

Removing conflicting OpenSSL and zlib packages

These packages have higher priority than the ones included in this repository. To distribute a single exe, all libraries need to be built statically. Run the commands for your package manager in a terminal.

If you don't have any of the package managers listed below then you can ignore this.

vcpkg:

vcpkg remove openssl:x86-windows --recurse
vcpkg remove zlib:x86-windows --recurse

Building the executable

  1. Enter Client/
  2. Open Chief Client++.sln
  3. Select Toolbar -> Build -> Build Solution
  4. Consider changing the build target (below the toolbar) from Debug to Release
  5. Output will be found in the Debug/ or Release/ folder.

Building the bootstrapper

  1. Enter frontend/
  2. Install modules: npm install
  3. Build: npm run build-once

Building OpenSSL and zlib

Open both repository links and follow the instructions for building:
