Pacemaker - QNX Shared Memory & Threads ----------------------------------- Introduction ============ This application will simulate an implantable defibrillator device with triple redundancy. Documentation ============= The application will track bad heart rhythms. Heart rhythms are measured in voltages. Possible voltages include -1mV, 0mV, and 1mV. The application allows changing of heart-rate, creating two versions of the SVT, and breaking on or more of the redundant parts. Supra-ventricular tachyarrhythmias (SVT) is a condition when the heart-rate changes from 0mV to -1mV and never hitting 1mV or 0mV to 1mV and never hitting -1mV. Parts of the defibrillator include the can, lead wires, atrial lead function and ventricular lead function. The application simulating the defibrillator is to read heart-rate from each part of the pacemaker and choose the best result from all 3 parts. If one part of the pacemaker fails, then results from that part of the pacemaker will be ignored and the voting system will use the remaining two. The device shocks the heart if it needs to be shocked, because of a life-threatening rhythm disturbance from the lower chambers of the heart. It can correct this rhythm. Because it has a pacemaker built into it, a defibrillator also has the capability of stimulating the heart like a pacemaker, to help stop fast rhythms, at times, and to prevent the heart from getting too slow. Requirements: -QNX Software Development Platform 6.5 or greater Architecture: -hardware simulates writing/reading voltages in the triple redundancy modules using shared memory. -the software will read from the shared memory and do calculations then react accordingly. Instructions: -compile each .c in it's own QNX C/C++ project under Momentix. -run the hardware simulator then the software on the same machine. Author ====== Mike Niyonkuru
