AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3 (Windows + Linux preview)
AnyPS5 Desktop 0.1.3: controllers, sounds, system fonts and trophy cards over the game. (0.1.2 was not published; its changes are in this release too.)
This is still an early preview. Please report what works and what doesn't in the issues.
What's new
- Controllers in the launcher: the D-pad or left stick moves, Cross/A selects, Circle/B goes back, L1/R1 go to the game before or after, and PS/Guide brings the launcher in front of the game and back. Xbox/XInput and PlayStation pads on Windows, any joystick on Linux.
- Trophies while you play: a PS5-style card with the trophy sound drops in over the game, and the launcher keeps a picture of the moment (Game settings → Screenshots). On Wayland it is a desktop notification and no picture.
- Hidden trophies: △ / Y (or Show) reveals one in the trophy list; Settings → Behaviour → Always Show Hidden Trophies shows them all.
- System fonts for every game: Noto Sans, Mono, Thai and Arabic ship with the launcher; Japanese, Chinese and Korean download the first time a game needs them. Settings → Fonts shows what each script gets and takes a folder of your own.
- Sounds and game music: the Mac launcher's interface sounds, and a game's theme song (
sce_sys/snd0.at9) fades in on the home screen. Volumes in Settings → Behaviour. - Party join codes and a Discord link: the leader makes an XXXX-XXXX code for people who are not friends yet and lets them in or turns them down; Party → Join with a code. The leader can set a Discord link for everyone.
- Full screen and window size now work with upstream's engine. Settings → AnyPS5 Engine also offers the AnyPS5-ARM engine, downloaded from its signed releases (needed for the phone controller).
- Family limits from AnyTogether: age-locked games, play time warnings and asking a parent, kept offline too.
- Launcher updates: it says when a new AnyPS5 Desktop is out and downloads the installer, checked against the release's signed checksums.
- Mouse: Close/Back buttons on every panel, right click is Back, clickable key hints, a single click selects a game, double click plays. Smoother screens.
- Linux: says when the engine needs a newer glibc than the system has.
Install
Windows 10/11 (x64): run AnyPS5-Desktop-Setup-0.1.3-x64.exe (per user, no admin needed). SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info → Run anyway. Portable: unzip AnyPS5-Desktop-windows-x64.zip and run anyps5_desktop.exe.
Linux (x64):
- AppImage:
chmod +x AnyPS5-Desktop-0.1.3-x86_64.AppImage, then run it. - Ubuntu/Debian:
sudo apt install ./anyps5-desktop_0.1.3_amd64.deb. - Archive: unpack the .tar.gz and run
AnyPS5-Desktop/anyps5_desktop. - The launcher runs on glibc 2.34+ (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer). Games run through AnyPS5's current Linux engine, which needs glibc 2.38+ (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or newer).
Then open the launcher, press Download the AnyPS5 engine and choose your games folder.
Checksums: SHA256SUMS lists every file, and SHA256SUMS.sig is its Ed25519 signature with the AnyPS5 release key.
Requirements: a CPU and GPU that AnyPS5 supports (see upstream), and decrypted copies of games you own.
