At present, most of the genomics studies are using the next generation sequencing (NGS), which require the ability to select and track samples from many experimental projects.

Because the number of genome sequencing studies is increasing every day, it is mandatory to have in place and adequate the laboratory information management systems (LIMS) to manage the huge number of samples that are subject to this type of genetic analysis.

For achieving these requirements, we have developed a friendly web environment, iSkyLIMS with settings configuration files to provide more flexibility to easily adapt to the different configurations that each organization has.

iSkyLIMS Scopes

The main scopes for iSkyLIMS are the following:

  • Provide a friendly environment to handles the daily work in Wetlab and Drylab activities.
  • Improve quality on the Samples identification and tracking
  • Create statistics to improve the quality process.

iSkyLIMS Features

When talking about iSkyLIMS we can split the features in two main ones:

  • Wetlab
  • Drylab

Wetlab features are the ones that are more close to the laboratory activities, supporting two sequencers:

  • illumina NexSeq
  • illumina MiSeq

Drylab on the contrary, is focus on the activities close to bio-informatics analysis and handling with the output files that NGS generates

iSkyLIMS Goals

Our main goal is to continue improving iSkyLIMS to add more functionally that helps the daily work of the investigators and bio-informatics.
