I thought it would be a neat idea in ToB to be able to go back and tour SoA, just for the hell of it. That's what this mod is all about. This places a book you can buy in Lazarus Librarus' Arcana Archives that will help you do this.
Make sure that Baldur's Gate II or ANY game-related utilities are not running.
To install the mod, unpack the archive into your game directory and run Setup-ToB-Tourist.exe
.
To reinstall or uninstall the mod, re-run Setup-ToB-Tourist.exe
in your game directory.
This should be compatible with all WeiDU mods.
If you encounter any problems or you have a question, please open an issue on the project's GitHub and I will do what I can to address the issue.
Oh, yes. The file RJTourist.xxx
will be placed in the Override
folder to test for the presence of this mod, should you feel the need.
Enhanced Edition Trilogy (EET) is not supported right now. EET compatibility will be introduced in the future.
Please note that EET allows you to access all areas unlocked already. If you started a new game in BG1, SoD or SoA, you can return to the SoA areas once they're unlocked to you. This mod could be useful on EET if you play EET and start in the ToB scenario. Nevertheless, thanks to the mod you can teleport to both visited and unvisited locations from Amn.
Q: How can I download this mod?
A: Preferred way is to download latest package from GitHub. Please use released version as repository copy can be in work-in-progress state. You can try with other download options listed in Download section.
Q: Does it work with EET?
A: Please read EET compatibility note.
Q: Can I host this mod on my web site?
A: Let me know if you want (open GitHub issue), I would add your site to mirror list.
Q: I want to add some extra content, can I?
A: Feel free to contribute. You can create pull request to project's GitHub.

Version 1
- Initial release BG2:EE compatible only.
- Add SOA touring capability to ToB. After leaving Saradush and excluding the Pocket Plane, the Tourist Guide will help you to teleport to the standard SOA areas, excluding quest specific areas. Return is either via book to Watcher's Keep, or area edge which by now is the ToB map areas; note that you cannot return via area edge to your initial point. Now, why you should want to do this is a good question to which I have as yet no answer. Play with it and let me know what you find out! (It seemed like a good idea at the time.) You can use PC's Pocket Plane ability but, by this time, the Pocket Plane exit will only return to your exit point in SOA. Stuff cached in containers in SOA will be there in ToB. I dealt with Mencar Pebblecrusher in ToB. (So, if you leave unfinished business in SOA...).
