$ git status --short
 M CHANGELOG.md
 M README.md

$ git show --pretty="" --name-only
README.md

$ git amend
[master ee2a03c] Edit readme
 Date: Tue Sep 26 09:13:22 2017 -0500
 1 file changed, 2 insertions(+)

$ git status --short
 M CHANGELOG.md

As a starter, it's effectively:

git commit --amend --no-edit -- `git show --pretty="" --name-only`
