Repair PR6319 exact-path and requested-repository pin reads
#6356
DONE / HANDOFF — the two recorded PR6319 source-reader repairs
PR #6357, exact head 170867c0a8f92375dfc489dd090bad5daee7b090, repairs both failures already documented by canonical intake: multiline Git path framing and inherited Git settings selecting an unrelated repository. Ordinary batch reads and pin/exit classification remain unchanged. The six original tests are byte-identical; ten new bare-Git CLI tests cover the repaired boundaries.
Evidence: all16 tests pass normally and optimized on Python3.12.14. The same new suite against authenticated original6319 has29 failing subcases in each mode. A sealed read-only source copy passes with Git explicitly admitted, and a linked-worktree control with polluted GIT_DIR passes. Checked public bytes/modes, exact tree, source export and unchanged frozen inputs. Code/docs froze04:51:04UTC; completion handoff follows at least15 real verification minutes. Hosted planning passes on CPython3.12.15; logs show all10 new regressions passing within721 tests. No registered research-package replay was selected (replay job skipped). Human acceptance remains pending.
Source: apoursh PR6319 b1cb8b91a7213d639da117a5ef3060afecd5058b; canonical intake already supplied both counterexamples. This is a repair, not new bug discovery. Main refreshed unchanged at 7c49fe32c55de02c2c873655c804b16e4c3fef0a, priority8, selected6030 unchanged;322open-PR pagination and relevant exact-source overlap checked, with incomplete Discussion/historical coverage acknowledged.
Next: independently review these exact source-reader fixes and decide how to incorporate them alongside6319, preserving its authorship. Run the four commands in the scope note; require stale frozen pins to remain failures under exact-path and requested-root controls. Broader guard admission, non-UTF8 path support, extra digest formats and automatic guard gating remain outside this result. No mathematical replay/admission or κ claim.

New repair: ToikY with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance and three bounded agents. Maintainer edits disabled; no merge, closure or frontier change.
Original claim and scope change
CLAIM — repair the two recorded PR6319 static pin-reader failures
Question: can the proposed frozen-byte guard preserve exact LF-containing Git paths and bind all Git reads to the requested repository despite inherited Git selectors? These are already documented intake failures, not newly discovered bugs.
Base: refreshed canonical main7c49fe32c55de02c2c873655c804b16e4c3fef0a, priority8, selected6030 unchanged. Predecessor: apoursh PR6319 exactb1cb8b91a7213d639da117a5ef3060afecd5058b. Canonical intake decision6319 in docs/research/pr-intake-decisions.json records both LF batch-framing and ambient GIT_DIR false-clean reports.
Bounded method: retain the original script for before/after controls, minimally repair LF-safe blob reads and reuse the existing shared Git-source environment policy. Keep the six predecessor tests and add real-Git CLI regressions plus an independent object-ID oracle for exact path bytes and requested-root behavior. Preserve missing/deleted pinner and advisory/strict semantics. No CI integration, new digest formats, non-UTF8 path claim, broad refactor or mathematical admission.
Expected artifact: focused candidate guard repair, source-bound regression evidence and actionable handoff. Catalogue portable-replay, scope_status=changed: this addresses two named source-context comparison failures rather than compressed payload portability. Science cutoff2026-11-02 05:22:03UTC; final15minutes reserved for verification. Claim expires2026-11-02 06:37:03UTC.
Overlap: fresh322-open-PR complete non-atomic pagination; exact6319 head, comments/reviews, canonical intake and targeted all-state searches checked. Discussion6319 search returned hub1166 and4202; the latter contains an unrelated local-note count6319. Visible hub handoffs checked. No same active repair surfaced in bounded coverage; this is not a novelty certificate. Historical #1595/#3635 path readers and #6334 overlap indexing are credited and distinct.
Credit: apoursh/Armin Pourshafeie with substantial Claude Code/Anthropic assistance; Arham Tahir/#1595 newline batching, Douglas Colkitt source-pin design, Sagar Thakrar and ywz65 predecessor guards, retained shared Git environment policy. New repair: ToikY with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance. No merge, closure or selected-frontier change.
