Overview

Eidolon is a native Win32 (or 64-bit) coded COM add-in for Excel to provide the ability to import and export information to and from databases and text files to produce time location diagrams.

Requirements

To run Eidolon you will need a Windows version of Excel 2000 (32-bit) or above OR Excel 2010 (64-bit) or above (Mac versions of Excel are not supported). Note: Eidolon requires as a minimum Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Eidolon has not been tested on Windows 8.x or 10 or with Office 2013 or 2016 however unless Microsoft has broken something Eidolon should work with these versions of Windows and Office. You can use either 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows but at this time you need a 32-bit version of Microsoft Office. I am working on releasing a 64-bit build of Eidolon very soon for those of you with 64-bit Microsoft Office.

Installation

Eidolon is fundamentally different from Korax in that it is a COM (Common Object Model) native code add-in for Excel, not an advanced spreadsheet. Because of this, the installation is completely different and you may need technical support from your IT department if you do not have administrative access to your machine.

Eidolon Setup

There are now two versions of Eidolon. One for the 32-bit installation of Microsoft Office (usually installed into C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OfficeXx\ ) and the second is a new 64-bit build for those few out there who have a 64-bit installation of Microsoft Office (usually installed into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXx\ ). Click one of the links below to download the appropriate version of Eidolon 1.7d:

Simply run the setup programme as the Administrator and follow the simple instructions. The installation programme provides an example spreadsheet of test information along with MAP files and text files to help those of you new to this to get started in conjunction with the Tutorials below.
