Yes, another filament scale – but hear me out, this one might actually earn a spot next to your printer. 😄
Hey everyone 👋
I've been working on a hardware project that integrates directly with Spoolman and wanted to share it with this community: SpoolmanScale.
What is it?
An open-source ESP32-based filament scale with a built-in NFC reader and a 3.5" touchscreen. Place a spool on the scale – it reads the NFC tag, pulls the data from Spoolman, and lets you update the remaining weight, log a drying date, or archive empty spools. All on-device. No phone, no app, no manual entry.
Features:
extra.tagSpoolmanScale checks for new firmware releases on GitHub automatically. If an update is available, you'll see a notification on the device and can install it with a single tap, or upload it via browser – no IDE, no cables, no computer needed.
It uses the same
extra.tagfield as OpenSpoolMan, so both tools work alongside each other without any extra configuration.Currently running stable with a library of 150+ active spools – curious to hear from anyone with an even larger collection!
Status: Public beta – all core features are working. A first wiring and assembly guide is in the README, with more detail to follow.
