Another huge update! I've done a massive overhaul of the UI, and have added full support for Nightdive's Turok 2 remaster, as well as Kaiser's Doom 64 EX! I have a full change-log listed below, as well as known issues and future plans.

Furthermore, my version of Rocket Launcher 2 is now known as Light Burden, in reference to the satchel from the Turok series, because my primary motivation for this project was better mod support for Nightdive's Turok remasters. I also felt this name helps give this project a more unique identity, as it is no longer limited to being a Doom engine game launcher.

In regards to the code base, I am maintaining all references to "Rocket Launcher" in all internal files and code. There is no reason to break compatibility or cause merge conflicts for anyone who branches from my GitHub.
Finally, .rocket files are NOT being renamed, and will still be fully compatible.

CHANGE LOG SINCE LAST RELEASE (V0.5)

Full UI revamp:

  • New color scheme.
  • New button graphics using images.
  • Improved button feedback when clicked or disabled.
  • Unusuable options are disabled per game, instead of being hidden, for a more consistent UI.
  • Disabled options have obvious graphical difference.
  • Improved font colors for Windows and Linux, thanks to my friend IJCSTAB.
  • New Icon thanks to my friend Badger, based off the Light Burden Satchel from Turok.
  • Engine / Game Setup tab has been moved to the 2nd position.
  • Engine / Game Setup window has been entirely overhauled with a new layout.
  • Improved UI Layout on Game Launch tab

FUNCTIONALITY UPDATES:

  • Ability to launch without loading your selected Files or Archives.
  • Full Turok 2 Support.
  • Full Doom64 EX Support - More commands to be added!

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • "Show Command Line" from the Rocket Menu will crash if your command line is blank. This is a known issue with Turok, Turok 2, and Doom 64 EX. This will be fixed soon, and does NOT prevent normal operation such as adding mods, sorting them, and playing games.
  • Lack of extensive testing on Linux.
  • Doom64 EX needs more launch commands added.

FUTURE PLANS:

  • Mod ID numbers - High Priority. Must investigate how to display array index.
  • Support for Blood Fresh Supply - Medium Priority. Must investigate if its useful for this game.
  • Support for Forsaken Remastered - Medium Priority. Have to plan around its relative pathing for mod files.
  • Better Linux Support - Medium Priority. Must test and use various Linux distros/versions more.
  • Buttons in addition to Drag/Drop to order mods - Medium Priority. Must investigate. Last attempt was completely nonfunctional.
  • SDK Launching - Low Priority. Must plan out design to accommodate numerous games.

SUGGESTED RESOURCES:

  • Turok Sanctum - Ultimate hub for Turok & Turok 2 modifications, and an active community! Also has mods for Doom64EX and Forsaken Remastered! https://turoksanctum.com/
