Fix type conditional check and UnboundLocalError for params_results

• Closes [Bug]: Fix _get_instance_of_param_class() conditional resulting in param object attributes not being correctly copied #768
• Closes [Bug]: UnboundLocalError: local variable 'params_results' referenced before assignment #769
