About the Author

Hello and welcome to my landing page - my name is Ramy Rashad.

Growing up, I was obsessed with airplanes ✈️ and NASA's space shuttle program 🚀. I naturally became a professional aerospace and staff software engineer. Through my doctoral research, I gained expertise in the areas of (i) numerical optimization and (ii) computational aerodynamics. Through more than a decade of industry experience, I have strived to democratize and bridge-the-gap between machine learning, optimization, and traditional scientific computing.

I currently work for Pratt & Whitney Canada, in the the Toronto area. My work is focused on ML-driven design optimization frameworks for advanced propulsion systems, typically involving multidisciplinary physics-based modelling.

In my spare time, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, flying Cessnas, and jumping out of them! 😃
