Accounts and Profile gone from settings

I noticed after I've run the debloat that the accounts and profiles is blank in settings, is this intentional?

Hey, thanks for flagging this! That's definitely not supposed to happen. Some of the lists turn off a Google account or profile helper app, and on a few TVs that ends up blanking the Accounts and Profile pages.

Which list did you use (the folder under examples/) and what's your TV model? That'll help me pin down the exact package.

In the meantime, running tools/restore.sh with your list will bring everything back. If you'd rather keep the rest of the cleanup, you can just re-enable the account one with pm enable --user 0 <package>. Once we know which package it is, I'll fix the list so nobody else runs into this.

Thanks for getting back to me. Here are the details.

TV: TCL 75C845X2, UK/Europe build. Product G08_4K_GB, MediaTek tcl9618, Android TV OS 14 (Google TV), firmware V8-0012T01-LF1V667 (UTT2.250416.001 AU04).

List used: examples/tcl-c755-google-tv/debloat.txt (same G08 board), with a few edits of my own (YouTube and Google Play Movies & TV disabled, Chromecast/AirPlay/game bar kept).

The package is the stock launcher, com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx. It isn't in the list. build-and-install disables it when it makes the new launcher Home. Once it was disabled, Settings > Accounts & profiles was empty. After pm enable com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx the profile list came back straight away (I hadn't re-enabled setupwraith at that point, so it isn't needed for this).

The accounts weren't deleted: dumpsys account still listed all three Google accounts while the page was empty. So it's just the page that fails to show them.

The catch: re-enabling launcherx isn't a clean fix, because it takes Home back:

• cmd package resolve-activity for HOME returns launcherx with priority 2, ahead of com.gathin.tvhome (priority 0).
• cmd package set-home-activity --user 0 com.gathin.tvhome/.MainActivity prints Success but doesn't change that while launcherx is enabled.
• pm disable --user 0 com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx/.home.HomeActivity is refused with a SecurityException from the shell, so I can't keep the package enabled and disable only its home activity.

So on this TV the profile list and the replacement launcher can't both be on. My workaround is to keep launcherx disabled and re-enable it only when I need to switch profile (enable, switch, then disable and set Home last).

Two things that may help others: pm list users shows two extra users (configured_user 10 and new_user 11). I haven't confirmed whether other profiles run as those or all share user 0. Also, a note in TROUBLESHOOTING.md that disabling launcherx empties Accounts & profiles on Google TV 14 would save people a lot of confusion.

Happy to test anything on the TV, and I'll send my C845X2 list as a PR if that's useful.

Thank you, this is a brilliant diagnosis. You're right: on Google TV 14 the Accounts & profiles page lives in the stock launcher (launcherx), so disabling it empties the page even though the accounts are still there, and while it's enabled it takes Home back.

Your workaround (enable launcherx, switch profile, disable it again, then set Home last) is the safest option for now, and I've added exactly that to TROUBLESHOOTING.md so nobody else gets confused. A PR with your C845X2 list would be very welcome, with a note about this in the folder's README.
