In this wiki we will explore the usage of afc-gui.
afc-gui is a graphic user interface for a program called asus-fan-control, it has the final scope of allowing said program to be used more easily by people not familiar with the terminal and introducing other functionalities.
The window is composed by 4 sub-windows
This window allow the user to select a preset for the fan of the computer, 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 0%. To avoid damaging the computer, if the fan speed is set to 0% when the temperature goes above 85°C or 185°F the fan will automatically rump up to 100%, for the other presets, its laptop depended, its usually around 80°C or 176°F here you can see the temperatures for supported laptops. In this window you can also see the temperature of you laptop, this temperature is updated every 5 seconds, or when a new temperature is applied.
In this page you can enter your own set of temperatures or reset the default ones: if you choose to set your own temperatures they have to be in the following format, 8 numbers separated by a space (ex 60 65 67 70 73 77 81 85
), to apply click Set custom temps
, when that is pressed it will check that the temperatures are valid, then apply the change. if that test fails it will clear the input box (not yet implemented).
Here you can find all the info related to your laptop, on the left side the are model info, and on the right the active temperatures, this will be refreshed every time you change the temperatures, either via a preset or using a custom one.
This final window shows on the left info on the version of asus-fan-control, and clicking the button on the right it will bring up the wiki for asus-fan-control and this page.
