I'm up for merging this, I personally find these to look a lot better.
Not sure what @Greenhawk837 thinks still.

I like the tinkers, AE2, and BOP changes. Not sure about the other ore changes but I have thought copper needed a new texture for a while. Will need to load up a world and see how it looks.

I also think that copper needs a new texture, which is why I was trying to come up with something different. But to be honest I'm not completely sure about my texture for it yet either.

The dusts throughout the pack have a few different styles at the moment and both of which I don't particularly like as much. So if people like this style of dust I can easily redo all of the other dusts over time to suit.

But overall I just found that most of the ores, ingots and dusts have needed some love for some time now

If you are doing any mass recoloring, I would recommend looking into this. https://gist.github.com/goldbattle/7819139 The easy way of changing dusts if you have it setup right.

Here is my folder that I use, this should get you started. Here. Just drop that in your c:// root, and it should be up and running. Double click the batch script to run, and you should get an output. Should understand what the folders are from the readme.

And of course, you need imagemagick for this whole thing to work. Just download and make sure you can use the convert command in the cmd prompt.

Thankyou! wow that really is amazing! the amount of time that will save...

I'll get all the of the dusts and ingots done sometime this week. Then I'll start playing around with the ores some more again.

For example we use versions of this, every time there is an update to tinkers. So if a new item is added, just add a greyscale and run it. Also allows for ingots across mods to match etc.

I've recoloured all of the materials in Thermal Foundation, I personally find they look nicer, and also feel a lot more recognisable from a glance.

Whats everyones opinions

I like that dust_Platinum.png. I think they all look really good. Think you could make the other mods match to that standard?

Yeah, I just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were first. I'll start working on other mods and I should be easily able to get them to the same standard.

I do like the dusts and other things a lot. I think the issue I have with the ore textures is that they don't feel "john smith" enough there too "almost realistic" looking. There is a certain feel of classic SNES and NES games RPG about the pack and that's what I have always liked about it.

Got a little side tracked and made the drives look less faithful

Well those ore textures are based off some of the very original John Smith pack textures, but I do agree that they don't fit in with the style of JSTR very well.

I'm going to continue working on the ingots, dusts, cogs, ect so if someone else wants to take a crack at the copper/tin ore design feel welcome to do so.

Back in the day, the modded gems and ores were basically crude recolours of the vanilla John Smith textures - they didn't even match the JSTR stone texture, so I fixed that, and remade the gems to be recoloured versions of the emerald textures rather than the diamond, as well as varying up the ores.

The reason I then decided to redo the gems again was to give a bit more variety - each one is not only a different colour, but also a different pattern.

The new gem textures look very nice and more "raw gem like", the only thing is they are all same texture with a different colour.

The dusts look very nice and would make a nice update IMO.

If possible @Greenhawk837, could you push those AE2 drives to the main branch, I am looking to do a pack update this weekend, and I would love to get those in there.

I like those drive textures and I hate I haven't been able to work on anything lately but I'm on a spare PC right now because I ordered a new mobo/processor so it limits my ability to do much.

I merged the master branch into this one. This should be good to merge. Make sure I didn't mess anything up, and overwrite some of the textures. Let me know.
