Users loyal to Evernote will be more willing to migrate to Laverna if they can export notes from Evernote and import them into Laverna.

Would be a nice feature

So to extract another requirement out of that one, it'll mean that Laverna will also need to be able to manage non-image files (esp., Docs, PDFs, etc).

Right now, as far as I can tell, it's not able to handle them. If I embed a document file (MS Word format for example) all it ends up showing is a broken image frame. Clicking on it does nothing.

Though I agree that this is an issue to be resolved, I believe the coders should fix the basics (esp., synchronization) first.

+1 - there's likely to be a large migration of evernote users over the coming weeks as they increased the monthly fees to the unreasonable level. Being able to import Evernote's "ENEX" files would be awesome.

Me too, for the same reason, they grab us slowly, making us dependant of there service and oups, one day they ask fees if you want to use more than 2 devices! I use 6 devices on my service so I don' t have choice to subscribe if I want to stay with them!

I totally agree. I got a notification that in order to use Evernote on my Windows tablet, workstation, laptop, and home computers all at once, I'll have to upgrade my service to $70 per year (half off for the first). That's nuts considering all I do is take text notes with limited formatting (bullet lists, bold, underline). Laverna is looking pretty good right now.

As above, given Evernote driving all of it's users off with the new fee structure, this is as good a time as there'll ever be to support importing.

+1 exactly the same reason, evernote is way out of hand with its pricing!

There's already a "Reaction" feature, then why flood here?

@DaniellMesquito Well, speaking only for myself, I had never heard of the feature until I just now googled it. But thanks for pointing it out!

Hey, Evernote is on last month before new free-account rules will take place (2 devices only). So it would be nice to prepare for this and leave anywhere. But I have 4K notes in Evernote, so I cannot just leave and start from scratch. I need to export/import somewhere.
Is there any plans for import feature?

@Julianoe

@tml Because this is the most wanted necessary important so needed functionnality. I really wonder how many users are sticking to Evernote like @artin-phares just because Evernote is preventing everyone to migrate easily.
btw : +1, i'm one of 'em.

Evernote is preventing everyone to migrate easily

hm.. why is that? evernote has dtd, which I believe should explain xml structure of their export .enex files...
But surprisingly all tools I've tried are either fail while importing .enex, or does not support import from evernote at all.

Interesting idea... I'm not into Evernote but this feature is useful + gonna make Laverna a better place for every Evernote users 🙂

@suprafly

For me, it would mean the difference of using Laverna or not. I have never liked Evernote much, but it solved a problem so I've been using it and waiting for an encrypted service that has similar features. Being able to import my evernote work into Laverna would essentially convert me. I imagine others are in a similar situation.

Here's some kind of solution for import until feature is implemented https://github.com/m00rt1/enex2laverna

ls-1N commented Apr 25, 2017

I tried @m00rt1's workflow and managed without having too much IT knowledge and succeeded. Unfortunately it didn't transmit tags, notebooks and creation times. At least amongst the things I care about. Still I'm really grateful that I dont need to do something worse to bring my 1600 notes from Evernote.
I also found this solution, but havent tried it yet.

@wwebfor Hello.

Could you tell - when the next release with this option will be available?

Thank you!

It seems like, this feature is not available on Laverna Beta v0.7.51?

@jonnyprouty

@ImaginationWork were you able to import from Evernote successfully? I also have had no luck in beta v0.7.51.
