The Great Transition

So what does the Body of Humankind want for itself? Otherwise, for what purpose does it desire to come together?
Our current democratic governance model is a quagmire of closed-door social factions and inefficient information flows. The turning point, or paradigm shift facing mankind is that, up until this millennium all past governance has focused on managing the Will of Man, channeling the predilection for personal gain and immediate gratification into more sustainable avenues that (purportedly) promote the system as a whole. As Douglas Coupland noted, Generation X is the first generation in history that earns less than their parents. This marks a major shift underway.
Notably, the explorations (and limitations) of individual Will, whether personal or national, culminated in World War II with the atom bomb, on through the Cold War, until finally collapsing in expensive futility. There is no real winner in a Will-centered scenario; at best, it can achieve a temporary, pyrrhic victory.
STUB Except for the few busy-bodies up top, for the majority of us, it is a re-active adaptive system that mostly seeks to keep maneuvering itself around those who would otherwise create novel forms of order and value. (That would be us!)
In any case, as globalization has reached its terminus, a new possibility has been opened beyond "mutually assured destruction" which has never been available before in all our history -- a shared, global community that recognizes the value of the natural world and everyone within it. The Internet is the medium for that message. Pangaia is its Operating System.
LOVE is the new Will. It should be noted that this project explicitly rejects the idea of an unending, accelerating curve of technological futurism (what I call the "Kurtzweilian Asymptope"), and instead flips it around so everything goes toward the center where the singularity really is....
This project has the codes which will allow the dynamic and transparent allocation of decision-making authority through new techniques such as user-ranking and multi-scale voting, plus the social intelligence to keep it cool...
So yeah, no doubts, we got some cutting-edge political science too, and frankly, it is intended to replace the nation-state, but don't say it too loud. Our purpose is a quiet, non-violent turn-about fueled by creating a vision so powerful and beautiful that it moves the whole world with it.
