Status of Nodz? #34
Comments
Hey @glm-nchaverou |
Looking forward to the updates. Thank you. |
I just saw this. If you're looking for admins, I'd be happy to volunteer. I am a senior data scientist at a non-profit that is building an open source cloud computing platform for the National Institutes of Health. We use open-source projects almost exclusively, and are using Nodz to visualize and modify workflows and pipelines. I think there are a few other projects we might use Nodz for as well (such as neural network or ML architecture visualization). It's a beautiful visualization tool, and I'd hate to see it go by the wayside when there are so few good tools out there. Obviously you have the other graph packages out there, but Nodz excels at displaying nodes along with their attributes and connections (which is critical for workflows and data traceability). I wouldn't mind assisting with PR reviews, and I have a few I would like to push that relate to updates to PyQt5 and adding features like click and drag panning. |
@Nicholas-Schaub are you doing CWL/WDL/Slurm stuff with Nodz ? |
Sounds like a good fit! I agree that it'll be a shame to let it go by the wayside ! |
@nyue Currently we support Kubernetes compatible platforms (Azure, AWS, etc), but we will be developing support for Slurm since NIH has the Biowulf HPC. We are just starting to develop a plan to abstract the computing infrastructure so that we can swap out Kubernetes with Slurm, SIngularity and a few others. Right now our workflows are just yaml files, but we recognize the need to move away from that. We've been looking at a number of specification standards, and we find most of them to be lacking for what we are doing. CWL and WDL seem to be too rigid and are missing some core components of what we need. We are leaning towards Biocompute. |

Hey there.
Opening a new discussion about the status of this project.
When speaking with other peoples around, we're all using this module but all having our own forks that we maintain and update, mostly because this trunk is not maintained anymore (last accepted PR was July 2018)
@LeGoffLoic : Are you still supporting this project ?
If not, would you accept to open admin rights to a couple of selected people to accept PRs ?
Sure we can fork it and accept PRs on that fork but the original project is far more followed than all forks available
