This article provides an overview of how to set up the user accounts that are required to integrate [!INCLUDEprod_short] with [!INCLUDEprod_short].
To set up the connection between [!INCLUDEprod_short] and [!INCLUDEprod_short], you must sign in to [!INCLUDEprod_short] with a user account that is assigned to the [!INCLUDEprod_short] Essential or [!INCLUDEprod_short] Premium license. We'll use this account one time to install and configure some required components.
Important
During set-up, you'll be asked to provide credentials for the [!INCLUDEprod_short] environment. Provide the credentials of an account that is a licensed user and assigned to the System Administrator security role on the [!INCLUDEprod_short] environment and User Administrator role on the tenant to which the environment belongs. This account doesn't need a license to [!INCLUDEprod_short] because it will be used only to do set-up tasks in the [!INCLUDEprod_short] environment.
After the connection setup is done, you can remove this [!INCLUDEprod_short] user. The integration will continue using the user account that is automatically created specifically for the integration.
Permissions and security roles for user accounts in [!INCLUDEprod_short]
The Base Integration Solution creates the following role in [!INCLUDE cds_long_md] for the integration:
- Business Central Dataverse Integration - Allows you to manage the connection between [!INCLUDE prod_short] and [!INCLUDE cds_long_md]. Typically, this is assigned only to the automatically created user account for synchronization.
Note
Only the application user who runs the integration should have the Business Central Dataverse Integration role. The application user doesn't need the [!INCLUDE prod_short] or [!INCLUDE cds_long_md] licenses.
When you install the Base Integration Solution, it configures the permissions for the integration user account. If those permissions are changed manually, you can reset them. Choose Redeploy Integration Solution on the Dataverse Connection Setup page to reinstall the Base Integration Solution. This step will deploy the Business Central Integration security role.
