Minions: Enabling Intuitive Swarm Control with Natural Language Models
Developed as part of my Master's thesis at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, this project integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) with Behavior Trees (BTs) to allow non-expert users to control robotic swarms through natural language commands. Minions addresses key challenges in swarm robotics, such as programming complexity and coordination across multiple agents, making it more accessible for users without technical expertise. Applications include search and rescue, agricultural monitoring, and environmental sensing. The system was evaluated using models like LLAMA-3, Mistral, and WestLake, showing significant improvements in command translation and execution in real-time swarm scenarios.
