If you can get it to play with ffplay, it should work with Motion. Probably just need to determine appropriate flags and dictionary settings, etc then pass those in as netcam_params. |

Hello, just a curious question
I have recently found and tried the software mediamtx: https://mediamtx.org/docs/kickoff/install
A brilliant server that connect to your (rtsp) cameras and provides those streams via the above mentioned protocols. The server is really lightweight, I run it also on a simple old RPi3 connecting to a Tapo netcam without problems. Basically no CPU load to be afraid of, some 3% for one camera
One great thing is that the time lag is almost zero compared with using ffmpeg for re-streaming. Viewing of WebRTC as well as HLS works perfect in browsers (HLS with an add-in for Chrome). Another good thing is that medimtx only consumes one connection to the rtsp camera but can then share the stream to many users without consuming more connections
I tried to configure a netcam_url for this but it did not work, motion could not open the stream
