Hi, I am presuming its a particular file, and not all/any? Can you make the file available somehow, either email to me directly if not too big, or Dropbox or via FTP site: http://ncl.ucar.edu/ftp_files.shtml Rick

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I think it happens to all nc files. My file is just 7.1 M which is not very large.
And I tried old version of ncl and I still get this message.
And by the way how can I get your email so i could email you the file.
James

Sorry -- I forgot this was a reply through github: brownrig@ucar.edu If this is happening to all .nc files, it is not a good sign about the ncl installation you have. Where did your distribution come from? Can you also tell me what you get when you run: uname -a gcc -v Rick

Please see the reply above Sir.
And I also tried to install ncl by anaconda and create the env ncl_to_python.
And I still got this problem.
