Not being a fan of the current background with the divider options, I like to use transparency. But it would be nice if it would dim the background so the icons and app labels stand out. Maybe dimming the entire screen, and not just the block that normally shows when using a colour.

There is a semi-transparent option, maybe that would work for you?

Kind of. I just don't like the way it looks. I've attached shots using the semi-transparent option vs what can be quickly set in Nova. I just think the entire bg being dimmed, with no dividers looks better:

Agreed, something to hide dividers could be nice.

Do we have any update on this? I was about to open an issue for this suggestions. I hate to ask like this since I have no experience with android development and it is a minute issue, but I really think this will help improve the look and feel of the app.

No update yet, but it should be really simple to do. We just need to add a theme attribute, and then sent divider to null.

See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1914477/how-do-i-remove-lines-between-listviews-on-android
I'll try to have a look this weekend

Transparent theme is left unchanged.
