Using Python run shell commands and output results into stats.json for use in HTML or Home Assistant

USAGE

I run this in the /var/www/html folder for apache on rasbian jessie. This provides an HTTP enpoint at the ip of the device for quick checking stats.

• update sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
• Install apache2 & git sudo apt-get install apache2 apache2-utils git
• Remove generated index.html with sudo rm -f /var/www/html/index.html
• Copy files sudo git clone https://github.com/Norien/PiStat /var/www/html/
• Set Premissions sudo chmod -R 0777 /var/www/html/
• to the bottom of sudo crontab -e add */3 * * * * python /var/www/html/stats.py > /var/www/html/stats.json where the number represents how often the script will run in minutes
• you can now access the internal IP of the Raspberry Pi to see stats.
