I am the only user of this application which is installed as a desktop app on a machine that is not connected to the internet. The process for logging in is inconvenient and seems unnecessary since I have to log into the machine and no other users could access the application.

When I'm installing the application I have to manually update the encrypted password in the application's database which is not very intuitive. I also get booted out of the application every so often and have to re-enter the login credentials. If I have any unsaved work it is gone when I log back in. I can get booted out while I'm in the middle of using the application.

As a first step we are planning to replace the authentication library

I think this ticket is a low priority. My main issue was needing to update the database with my password manually and getting booted out of the application while I'm actively using it. If it is significant effort to disable authentication I would suggest closing this ticket as not planned. Updating the authentication library to spring is a good idea though as we discussed on the Arachne call today.
