Placement options for onion skin

Hy Everyone!
In Pixelorama currently the onion skins for past and future are both placed over/above the canvas.
My personal opinion is to let the user decide the placement of both (Past and Future) onion skins separately like what is done in the picture from (https://github.com/Variable-ind/Pixelorama/tree/better_onion) :

What are your thoughts on the matter?

I also added an option for "ignore onion" but i was not sure where to place the onion button (the layer button already has three buttons and i was hesitant to add a fourth button) so i just adapted to the idea of : "writing ignore_onion in the layer name to make it ignore onion skinning..."
it currently looks like this (The main goal is to expose the options for onion so that it can adapt to any situation):

any ideas of where the toggle button (for a layer to ignore onion) should be placed?
