Cleanup all dead links #109
Comments
@mattben now that we're live, it would be good to get this issue sorted |
@durack1 Is it possible for PCMDI to hire an intern to cleanup all the dead links? This person will need to know the content of the website as well. Perhaps we can have a conversation regarding the dead links.
|

Not as bad as I thought it was but still a lot of manual removing or updating. Anything that is .php? is a remove.

@williams13 I'm not sure an intern is the greatest use of peoples time.. I spent a lot of time with Anna last year trying to get the site pulled across, not sure what @mattben's experience was like on that project |
Progress thus far is pretty good. The site is almost 4x as big as the last scan listed here, and we have reduced the number of broken links by more than 500. It should be noted that about 1800+ of those broken links are related to 1 of 2 dynamic php pages. Issue #194 is open to resolve these. |
This is great! Thanks! |
It seems this is now down to 432 (dead links) across 2793 pages Once we have this sorted, it would be useful to implement an action to catch further breaks as external sites change - e.g. https://github.com/marketplace/actions/broken-link-check |
@mauzey1 I was looking through some of the old pages, it would be great if some of the old and now deactivated email addresses, such as |
It seems that there are A LOT of dead links on the new pages http://pcmdiweb.llnl.gov/ over 2600 are reported by http://www.brokenlinkcheck.com
Some of these include lots of:
etc
It would be great to clean this all up
