Releases: G-String-Legacy/GS_MV
GS_MV-2.2.1
GS_M was conceived as an open-source, platform independent statistical tool for Generalizability analysis. Though it was developed entirely on the Linux OS, the run-time versions, and installers were entirely compiled, built and tested on the target platforms.
Version v2.2.1 uses Java openjdk LTS 21, which is supported to the year 2029. Run-time versions and installers could be built on all three platforms, and ran all the test-suites on Linux, Windows 10, and Sonoma. It runs on all three platforms. However, for macs it only supports the aarch64 architecture, i.e. from MacOS 11 on upwards.
The installers for platform Linux (.deb), and Windows (.msi) can be downloaded and executed directly.
The installer for platform MacOS (.dmg) requires that the Apple Gatekeeper be overruled. Users can base their trust in the identity of the developer on the stringent authentication policy of GitHub. A YouTube video explains, how to do this easily.
The MacOS version also suffers from a slight disability due to a bug in openjdk-21, which Oracle has not yet fixed to date. It only causes the menu option 'Help > Log Files' to display all the files in the working directory rather than just the log files.
v2.2.1 was built with Gradle 8.5 and Temurin openjdk 21.01. It features a user-friendly logging system, to assist with testing design problems.

Version v2.1.1 involved the leap from openjdk LTS 17 to LTS 21, which is supported to the year 2029. Run-time versions and installers could be built on all three platforms, and ran all the test-suites on Linux, Windows 10, and Sonoma. It runs on all three platforms. GS_M-2.0.12
Version 12, stable
The G_String_M installers for Linux (.deb), and Windows (.msi) can be downloaded directly from this page and installed on the target computer.
For Apple (.dmg) the situation is more complicated due to Apple's restrictive distribution policy. First GS_MV-2.0.10.dmg has to be downloaded to an usb memory stick via a non-Apple computer. The program can then be installed on a Mac from the memory stick. Depending on the specific OS it may also be necessary to disable the mac Gatekeeper. I am indebted to Dr. Greig Paul of Strathclyde University for clarifying some related political and legal issues.
GS_M-2.0.11
Upgraded automatic setup, to work also on Windows 11.
