Because this app is downloaded outside of the Mac App Store, macOS Gatekeeper may block it from running initially. You can easily bypass this using one of the two methods below:
Run this command in your Terminal to remove the macOS quarantine attributes. This is the safest and most permanent fix:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Video Downloader.app"Go to your Applications folder. Right-click (or Hold Control and click) the Vid-dl icon. Select Open from the shortcut menu. Click Open in the dialog box that appears.
