Creating an auction

If you wish to auction an item, you must first create an auction. First use the command /auction create - this will begin a conversation that will request the information required.

The first prompt will request which currency you wish to perform the auction in. This may be any of the currencies on the server, and bidders will need to have enough of the currency to bid for the item.

The second prompt asks for the duration of the auction. This is specified in hours that you wish the auction to run at max. After the duration has been reached, the item will be sold to the highest bidder, and you will be given the money.

The third prompt addresses the start price of the auction. This is the minimum price the item will sell for, and all bids placed must be above this.

The fourth prompt asks for the buy-out price. This is the price at which the bidder immediately gets the item on auction. If the auction reaches this price, the auction is closed and no further bids may be placed.

Next is the no-sell price prompt. This is the price at which the item will not be sold, and it is returned to the original owner.

Last is the minimum bid increment prompt. This prompt asks for the minimum price between each bid. Every bid must be at least this amount above the previous bid.

After completing all prompts, the auction will be created and you will be told the ID of the auction. This is used for bidding by command, and for creating an auction sign.

Creating an auction sign

For ease of bidding, you may create an auction sign. This will allow bidders to interact with the sign in order to bid. On the first line, write "[auction]" On the second, write the ID of the auction. The third line will be automatically set to the item that is being auctioned. The fourth line will be automatically set to the next price to bid. That is, the highest bid (or, in it's absence, the start price) plus the minimum bid increment.

Upon interacting with the sign, a bid is created at the price specified on the sign, and the next bid is updated. All previous bidders that are online are notified. If the bid passes the buy-out price, the auction is closed, the item is sold, and the sign is automatically removed.

Bidding via command

Once you have the auction ID, this may be given to bidders. Bidders may then use /bid [auction ID] [amount] This will add a bid in the same manner as an auction sign, and allows the flexibility of bidding custom amounts. However, this requires more typing from bidders.
