I just stumbled over RivalLocal and the first impression is really good. Nice, tiny and effective.
And it feels quite cool to be in time for a new project and make the first post here. :-)
Actually, there is only one feature that would be very convenient. I have a number of different projects which I work on alternately. Currently I have a number of symbolic links pointing to my local websites and I switch www to the proper project by renaming those links.
It would be great to have a set of different document roots and be able to switch between them in a drop-down box. So basically the feature would be:
In the settings:
maintain a table with
project name
path to a document root
php version
In the dashboard
Show a drop-down box with all project names
when the entry in the drop-down is changed: set the document root in apache config and the php version
If apache was running: Stop and restart Apache accordingly.
That would be very convenient with multiple projects.
