SPFX Footer Extension does not work with fat footers #785
Comments
Can't you apply CSS to the footer yourself to make it appear like you want? |
The challenge I've seen is that the page structure on the library page has
no scrollable region which is full page. The footer extension has fixed
positioning over the scrollable area where files or list items are shown.
The fixed Left nav on those pages complicates it as well. Since you can't
have treat a footer on a full screen page the same as one with a fixed left
nav. We have injected into the right scrollable div which is the best I
think one can do but then we aren't using the footer extension for anything
more than a user custom action which picks different divs for sitepages,
site contents, and list and lib pages

When using a larger footer the out of the box footer extension is non scrollable and overlays 50% of a document library on smaller screens. Footers must live in the scrollable part of the page.
this is tricky in that some pages like the list and library backend or site contents page have a left nav and the scrollable section would only be visible on the right.
Despite this not being idea, it's critical to not ship as it is because the footer would not be viable for any real world cases as it covers the other content on the screen.
