Making the Balance Parts
This page describes how you might make the parts for the Balance. Keep in mind that there are probably many other methods that will work. Choose a method that works for you. If a particular part requires an expensive tool you don't have, consider having a friend or local machine shop do it for you. If you have any recomendations, tips or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. - Thanks

Step 1: Layout the perimeter of the container on a piece of sheet metal.
Step 2: Layout and center punch the holes.
Step 3: Drill the holes to size. NOTE: Using a step drill bit for the 3/4 in hole is recommended. A hole saw might work in a pinch. Standard twist drills will not work well for such a large hole in sheet metal. A punch would also work great if one is available. Warning: If drilling, make sure the sheet metal is clamped well so that it does not come loose while drilling the larger hole.
Step 4: Cut out the sheet metal using tin snips or a slitting shear.
Step 5: Use a sheet metal brake to bend the metal as shown in the drawing.

Step 1: Layout and but the square tubing to length. Remove any burrs and clean up the edges with a flat file.
Step 2: Layout and drill holes at the end of each slot. Then use a round file to merge the two holes to make the slot.
Step 3: Weld the two pieces of square tubing together.
