Go to Making the Water Bath Parts for information on how to build the following parts:
- Water Bath Frame
- Tank Sides and Bottom
- Tank End
- Foot Attachment Plate
- Horizontal Bar - Guide Roller
- Vertical Bar - Guide Roller
- Support - Sensor and Outfeed
Step 1: Add a nut and bolt to the end of each leg of the water bath to make an adjustable foot.
Step 2: Clamp the support bar for the diameter sensor and outfeed to the water bath. Use an approximately 6 in overlap.
Step 3: Insert the adjustable vertical clamp into the horizontal bar for the guide roller by tapping it into position with a hammer and a small metal bar. Place the bar between the jaws of the vertical clamp so that you can when you hit the metal bar pressure is applied to the face of the clamp between the jaws. This will keep the jaws from breaking. Insert a nut into the nut trap. Press the bolt into position using a hammer (or vice) and a short piece of pipe. Finally add a washer to the bolt and screw it into the vertical clamp.
Step 4: Bolt the guide roller into position using two washers between the roller and the vertical bar. Tighten the wheel so that it doesn't roll as this seems to give better results.
Step 5: Insert the vertical bar into the the adjustable vertical clamp.
Step 6: Clamp the guide wheel assembly to the water bath using a C-clamp. Leave about 12 inches between the guide wheel and the end of the water bath. More adjustment will be done during the first extrusion.
The water bath is now complete.
