This project was started for preventing enormous international/national Urban planning projects from falling apart like "Deck of Cards". Urban planning when not done carefully, can be very fatal to development and unfortunately often happens in developing countries, for example, India. The disturbing fact is that no one really knows what is going on in cities and this project is going to tackle the problem. This project revolves around Uvolving Urban Planning Process (UPP)
Considering transport, which is by far the most quantitative and rigorously understood are of urban research and planning. It is also the area where developed nations throw off the largest amounts of money to collect data for knowing what is actually happening (despite the efforts of some companies to keep these data closely held), how people are traveling and the implications for future transport planning and land use, but developing countries often fall behind.
Tackling this problem is fairly easy, by collecting anonymized data to deeply understand and address urban transportation challenges.
- Identify most <--> least congested area in their jurisdictions (scaling congestion)
- Calibrate most-used roads (Demand modeling)
- Validate policies and infrastructure investments
This can be achieved by developing a system with GPS which can trace and log the travel routes in a distrubuted fashion. This leads us to think about the ways of implementation, which generally points to either of these solutions given below :
- Application on client's smart-device
- System installed in-car
Both has it's own list of advantages and disadvantages.
