[HL2] Health bar missing in HUD in Steam Deck version and PC version with -gamepadui launch parameter in Episode Two #6634
Comments
When I launched the game on steam deck now it's fixed after the 18/11 update, did that update fix it for you too? |
Re-verified game data. Still not fixed |
@Zeekoff, I just tested this on PC (Windows) with the launch parameter I cannot test it on a Steam Deck because I do not own one. |
The bug is still present on steamdeck. It corrupts files of the game in all saves somehow and even verifying doesn't help. The workshop item fixed the issue |
What workshop item fixed it? I downloaded some workshop campaign maps maybe one of them also fixed it? |

Exactly the one mentioned in the bug report |
I just got to Episode 2 and am experiencing this same bug on Steam Deck as well |
The workshop item says "The error is caused by typo in ep2/ep2_pak_dir_vpk/scripts/hudlayout.res" |
Will anyone at valve finally fix this bug? It's kind of ridiculous it's still going on and you need a workshop item to fix it. |
In the Steam Workshop for Half-Life 2, I noticed an item that fixes this issue. I have not tested the Steam Deck version, but I launched the game on PC (Windows) with the
-gamepadui
launch parameter, and the issue is indeed present there. The author of the fix in the Workshop claims that the issue is caused by a typo inep2/ep2_pak_dir_vpk/scripts/hudlayout.res
.This issue is present exclusively in Episode Two. It does not occur in Half-Life 2 or Episode One.
