Dear WordPress Community,
I hope this is the correct forum for suggesting improvements. Recently, I developed a Full Site Editing theme for WordPress, which utilized the Post Modified Date Block. The website owner preferred displaying only the last modified date of a blog post instead of the published date. This was easily achievable with the WordPress Core Block:
Post Modified Date block: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/post-modified-date-block/
The Problem:
We encountered an issue where no date appears for newly published posts that have not been ever modified before.
This behavior is quite misleading and problematic if this block is used in any theme templates, as the site editor provides no visually indication that this error might occur, besides the hint in the sidebar.
Sugestion
To address this issue, I suggest using the published post date as a fallback in cases where a blog post has never been modified. Giving Users more options, to create the templates they would like to create :)
My best regards,
