Default Gateway

What is a default gateway?

• Default Gateway allows for computers to connect/communicate on different networks. "Computers send data that is bound for other networks through the default gateway." Configuring the default gateway allows for a range of IP's to be created and distributed among the clients using the default gateway. This shows the importance of the default gateway in networking.

In the Lab

• The default gateway came up a lot in this lab and thought it would be important to do some research on this topic to make sure I had a clear understanding. Since we are setting up our own network, the default gateway plays a big part in connecting all the networks together and being able to communicate with one another. Without this understand, the lab could become confusing without understanding this topic for me.
