I'm positive one of the mods is causing this but i dont know how to find which one. preventing my gf from joining my game through lan hosting, which sucks cause this is one of my favorite modpacks

Same problem here since yesterday, I thought the problem would be fixed with today's update but not. Did you find anything?

Edit: I tried with a dedicated server, and it works for the moment

That specific issue is caused by moonlight. Removing it and Supplementaries solves that issue.

After removing those two mods we start experiencing another issue with just as little logs as the above one.

And I have now narrowed down the two other mods that are causing issues.
Blue flame (https://github.com/JDKDigital/blueflame) and FTB teams (https://github.com/FTBTeam/FTB-Teams)

Removing these mods makes everything work fine:

Does removing FTB teams stop FTB quests from syncing player achievement? Kinda defeat the purpose of playing LAN if it does.
Ah... FTB Quests is also in that lists. This is not a good solution for multiplayer. Running both the game and a dedicated sever really eat up my ram here.

hello everyone, i had the same problem. This problem is so serious that my friends and I can't use the LAN to connect. I hope the author can fix this problem as soon as possible!!!

Rather disappointing that this issue is still ongoing Me and my wife like to play lan games and having to still use ATM7 (not that there is anything wrong with ATM7 just want to play the newer one) as there is not fix for this :(

I've been encountering this issue and it disrupts all the internet on the computer running the server, I partially fixed it by increasing my ethernet adapter transfer/receive buffer. but I still encounter it sometimes. one thing that I have found that triggers it is the random structures that spawn around the map with a beacon like structure(sorry don't know the name of the mod), so I just avoid those.

After waiting for a long time, the problem still hasn't been solved

I tried so many ways to fix it, I just want a way to play with my friends with hamachi.

when you try to enter in a world it shows up the: NullPointerException

and for my friend, when he tries to create a first world it shows up the another one

I didn't find anything on internet, just somethings about mod erros and config corruption.

we've already tried to restart the PC, reinstall the modpack, update java, turn off firewall and antivirus and nothing worked at all.

  • 1 to having this issue

3 months and still basically no information on it it would seem. Somebody must have some idea?

The player connecting will actually join the world for one tiny, fraction of a second before disconnecting with the NullPointer exception, does this indicate that it must be a mods related issue? Or could it still possibly be some sort of network misconfiguration? (The LAN server shows up perfectly and instantly when the connecting player goes to the multiplayer tab, so I'm leaning more towards the mods issue side)

Also idk about you guys but for multiplayer FTB teams is kinda necessary. I don't want to remove it, but removing it doesn't really do anything anyway so I'm still looking for alternate solution ty ty

Very disappointed that one of the basic features of Minecraft is still broken in this mod. (the ability to play multiplayer on a LAN)

I am getting the nullpointer exception. Had been playing ATM6 with my oldest daugther and was going to introduce my youngest with ATM8. Will try ATM7. How will we know when this gets fixed. I haven't developed java in years but in C# I would just find the nullreference, add a nullcheck or null propagation and hope whatever was null isn't important.

That specific issue is caused by moonlight. Removing it and Supplementaries solves that issue. https://github.com/MehVahdJukaar/Moonlight

This solution worked for me.

Steps to replicate:

  1. Copied ATM8 to a new profile on Curseforge
  2. Disabled moonlight (supplementaries will also disable, as it is a dependency)
  3. Started the game on both computers, and was able to connect via LAN, as expected.

Currently the only workaround for using the official modpack is to run a dedicated server.

Hope this helps everyone!

I have also tried this solution and thanks to Studly234 for finding this. It worked but it took me a bit to figure out how to fix the issue because I didn't know how to disable mods I would always just delete them off the mods folder. I have made a detailed version of this explanation so here it is.

Profile Options
You first make a copy of the modpack (so you always have a clean one just in case) then click the profile options.

Content Managment
Then check the allow content management box so you can disable or enable any mod or add any at any time.

Mod to Disable
Then finally untick the active mod of MoonLight Lib (which will also disable all the other supplementary mods)(also don't worry it will save the setting) and now you are good to go and ready to start your adventure with a friend/family member enjoy. :)

It seems that just replacing Moonlight version 25 with the last version (moonlight-1.19.2-2.1.30-forge.jar) solves the issue
