[ENG] Reverse Cache Solver

Andre edited this page Nov 2, 2022 · 1 revision

gcAE 4.2 is introducing the new action Reverse cache solution to clipboard.

This action will scan the opened geocaching website for reverse cache numbers.

Reverse cache numbers are the three numbers with each six figures known from the popular Wherigo cache The Reverse Cache by -Waldmeister-. Here is an example what the reverse cache numbers look like:

605183
752606
015838

The new action will convert these numbers into coordinates and copy these to your clipboard.

The action first tries to recognise reverse cache numbers from the long description. If nothing is found, the personal notes are also checked.

Example

This short example shows the reverse cache numbers conversion in action. The example runs on a Mac, but it works the same way on iPhone/iPod/iPad

Day1976 Reverse Cache

The support for the day1976 reverse cache is limited, but generally works.

It works best if the two needed codes are copied to the personal cache note within the listing. Otherwise it is hard to recognise the code and not just some random words in the listing description. This is, because the code uses numbers and letters.

An example Wherigo geocache can be found here: https://coord.info/GC9MW5V
