Addresses #28. Here is my first attempt, very open to feedback! Let me know what you think!

I agree with you that this is a much needed change -- it's pretty important to do the best we can to get people up and running quickly with the software.

I made per-line comments on parts of joshblum@efae718 and a comment on joshblum@0be2415 as well.

Also, I think you can just squash the commits into a single commit called "Reorganize README" and that will be fine.

Merged! Thanks for the changes, I think the README is a lot more readable now, it's probably going to be much faster for people to get started with stuff.
