This is not supposed to be a huge list, but you may find it useful. Big awesome lists can be found here:

I don't do much design, so I prefer simple and intuitive apps without paid subscriptions.
- Pixelmator Pro – Professional image editing tools that anyone can use
- Adobe XD – UI/UX design and collaboration tool
Apple's own productivity tools are often underrated, however they're best in their sort and free (well, included in Mac prices).
- Apple Notes – Jot down a quick thought — add a photo, video, URL, or table — for later
- Apple Reminders – Create lists for to-dos, projects, groceries, and anything else you need to track
- Apple Mail – Manage all your emails in one place
- Apple Calendar – Track meetings, events, and appointments in one place
- Apple Photos – Import, view, and organize your photos and videos
- Apple Books – Get and read classics and bestsellers, listen to audiobooks, or study textbooks
- Apple Dictionary – Look up words in dictionaries and other sources
- Apple Music – Listen to your music library and discover new artists
- Apple Preview – View and edit PDFs and images, import images, and take pictures of the screen
- Apple Terminal – Access the complete UNIX operating system in macOS
- Apple Digital Color Meter – Find the color value of any color on the display
I use different browsers and don't love any of them. So they're not in this list.
- AdBlock – Surf the web without annoying pop ups and ads
- Ghostery – Makes the Web Cleaner, Faster and Safer
- BookMacster – Bookmarks manager
