A-Eye: AI-Powered Smart Glasses for Visually Impaired

The A-Eye project is a transformative endeavor that aims to empower visually impaired individuals by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, AI, GPS, and Intel oneAPI. These smart glasses provide comprehensive assistance to enhance users' mobility, independence, and overall quality of life. This repository contains the source code and documentation for the A-Eye project.

Features

  • Real-time communication and online access: The smart glasses integrate IoT capabilities to provide real-time communication, data analysis, and access to online resources, expanding users' connectivity and reach.
  • AI-powered object recognition and text identification: With integrated AI algorithms, A-Eye can process visual data captured by a built-in camera, enabling object recognition and text identification.
  • Audio feedback and alerts: A-Eye delivers audio instructions, descriptions, and timely alerts about the user's surroundings and potential obstacles through speakers or voice assistants like Alexa.
  • Navigation assistance: By combining AI, IoT, and GPS technologies, A-Eye provides navigation assistance, including turn-by-turn directions, landmark recognition, and real-time location tracking.
  • Voice recognition and control: Voice recognition capabilities allow users to interact with the smart glasses using voice commands, controlling functionalities, retrieving information, and adjusting settings.
  • Intel oneAPI optimization: The project utilizes Intel oneAPI to optimize the performance of AI algorithms, leveraging multiple processing units (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs) for faster and more efficient processing.
