NGINX layer

usage

Include layer:nginx in your layer.yaml

adding Vhosts

To proxy requests through NGINX to another application create a site.toml file with the following:

"server_name" = "mybouncer.example.com"
"app_path" = "/srv/myapp"

The variables in site.toml will be available when configuring the NGINX templates/vhost.conf.

If additional packages are required (ie php-mysql, php-mcrypt) in your layer.yaml add:

includes:
    - layer:nginx
options:
    apt:
        packages:
            - php-mysql
            - php-mcrypt

Once these packages are installed you can check their availability with:

@when('apt.installed.php-mysql')
def do_something_with_mysql():
    pass

states

• nginx.available - Set once nginx is installed and ready
• website.available - Set from the http interface bound to this layer.

Configure your web application once nginx.available is set:

from charms.layer.nginx import configure_site
@when('nginx.available')
def configure_webapp():
    configure_site('mywebsite', 'vhost.conf', app_path='/srv/app')

interface

This layer exposes the http interface which can be used in the application layer that consumes this layer.

An example:

@when('nginx.available', 'website.available')
def configure_website(website):
    website.configure(port=config['port'])
