How to import with correct disc order? #4976

I'm trying to import a Hybrid SACD rip with both the Red Book and the SACD layer. Here is the release:

I can manually match all the tracks with Picard and then the match percentage goes up, but it still calls both layers "Hybrid SACD (CD layer)" and it reverses the discs for some reason. In the initial match it says "2xHybrid SACD (CD layer)" which seems like a bug perhaps since they are labeled correctly in musicbrainz.

That is pretty weird! I think it is most troubling that the new importer UI is not showing any track-level differences here. This looks like a regression; it seems likely that the new UI is just not accounting for disc-number changes. That seems like it would be worth filing a bug for on its own!

Separately, about how to get the discs to match correctly: I don't have a slam-dunk reason to explain why this wrong match is happening, but my best guess is that the DISCNUMBER field is at fault. Is there any chance this field is set for one disc but not the other on your original files?

I don't quite understand how all the metadata works. As I show in my original post above, the flac files are tagged with ~~DISKNUMBER~~ DISCNUMBER. When I open this in Picard it shows that tag as Disc Number so that's how I manually tagged the wavpack files. I can try tagging them with DISCNUMBER later to see if it makes a difference.

I think I'll open bug reports for the issue you mentioned, but also for both discs appearing as Hybrid SACD (CD layer).

@InvisibleFunction to really make sure this behaviour was introduced by the new gui (or anything we did after that, there was quite some) please git checkout this commit 821e629 and make a testrun from there. I hope that helps to get closer to the root-cause of this problem :-)

If you've cloned and installed beets from git, this shoiuld be as easy as that:

cd <beets-repo-clone>
git checkout 821e6296ab9516b09f0cad996a663c9115fad11e
pip install -e .

Get back to me if you've installed differently and I'll try to support if you have problems jumping back to that point in time :-)

Oh, I'm sorry I see that you are already carefully comparing the old and the new UI over here: #4980

Perfect, that narrows it down already that that issue is definitely on the new UI's level! Thanks for a good report! :-)
