Looks like one of the recent commits essentially reverted this. (But it's fine)

I set absurd green fog starting at my face and yet I can see purple, orange and grey particles (from slow, napalm missiles and geo spots respectively).

2404-9bc84ea is #1331 which is HEAD+1.

But again, if it was to fix some other problem it's fine. It's not that important as long as fog isn't used much (it would be cool for singleplayer content like to emulate a sandstorm or something. But no major game does that yet).
