Monny 1.2.1

A small update with clearer wording and one more row in the process list.

  • The Processes tab shows nine apps instead of eight, using the space freed by the new sort menu.
  • Reworded unclear and awkward text in Russian, German, French, Spanish and Chinese. For example, the Spanish battery state no longer reads like "downloading", and thermal states now use the same words across the app.

Install or update

Choose Check for Updates in Monny, or download Monny.dmg below and drag Monny into Applications. Requires Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.

The app is signed but not notarized by Apple. A new download may need System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch. See the installation guide.

Check the download with the attached SHA256SUMS.txt: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt.

Build 72. Automated tests ran on macOS 27.0.1, and the process list was checked on an installed build.

Monny 1.2.0

Find out what is holding a port. Type 3002, localhost:3002 or a local URL into the Processes search and Monny shows the process listening on it: where it was started from, its executable, its parent and every port it listens on. Quit or Force Quit ends only that process, and Monny reports the result only after the process has exited.

  • Search by PID as well. A plain number matches both a PID and a port.
  • Processes that keep a core busy for over a minute appear at the top of the list, so you can quit them in one click.
  • The sort menu moved next to the search field.

Known limits

Monny sees only processes running under your account, like the rest of the Processes list. A port held by another user or by the system is not shown, so Monny does not say a port is free, only that none of your processes uses it. macOS has no public way to tell that an app is not responding, so the top section lists busy processes, not hung ones.

Build 69. Automated tests ran on macOS 27.0.1, and the new search was checked on an installed build.

@Blinks44 Blinks44 released this 26 Oct 09:50

Monny 1.1.1

AI limits now support ClinePass, Codebuff, Amp, Augment and Nous Portal, alongside the six existing tools. Monny uses the sign-in already set up in each tool. Enable AI limits in Settings and choose which tools to check.

  • Added vendor logos for all 11 tools.
  • Fixed the history legend layout when many tools are enabled.
  • Service requests that carry sign-in credentials now refuse redirects.

Known limits

AI limits are off by default. Amp and Augment need their CLI installed; Nous Portal uses the Hermes Agent session. Service output and quota endpoints can change. The five new integrations passed fixture tests; comparison with real signed-in accounts is still pending.

Build 67. Automated tests and native Light/Dark rendering checks ran on macOS 27.0.1. Charging compatibility and readings on other Mac models retain their existing limits.

Monny 1.1.0

@Blinks44 Blinks44 released this 25 Oct 20:29

Monny 1.1.0

Process search and quitting, a clearer view of power use and two more AI tools.

What's new

  • Find and quit processes. Search the Processes tab by app or process name. Right-click a row to Quit it, or Force Quit it after a confirmation. Monny itself and core system processes cannot be ended from here.
  • Power at a glance. The Battery tab shows how much power the Mac uses, how much goes into charging and the adapter's rating; on battery it shows the draw and the time left. Overview shows the Mac's power draw next to the battery level.
  • JetBrains AI limits. The monthly AI quota and top-up credits from your JetBrains IDE, read from the IDE's local files without any network request.
  • GitHub Copilot limits. Premium requests, chat and completions, using the account you signed in to with the GitHub CLI (gh auth login).
  • Fixed: a low AI limit could notify again when the service adjusted its reset time.
  • Corrected and refined wording in all six languages.

Install or update

Monny 1.0.0 offers this update itself (Check for Updates in the menu). For a new installation, download Monny-1.1.0-63.dmg below, open it and drag Monny into Applications. The app is not notarized by Apple, so the first launch of a downloaded copy needs System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway; see the installation guide.

You can check the download against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt.

Good to know

  • Requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. Tested on an M1 Max with macOS 27.
  • AI limits stay off by default. The Copilot reading uses an undocumented GitHub endpoint and the GitHub CLI's saved github.com account; GitHub Enterprise and other sign-ins are not supported yet.
  • Power readings come from the battery gauge and differ between Mac models; a reading the Mac does not report is shown as unavailable.

Monny 1.0.0

@Blinks44 Blinks44 released this 24 Oct 19:40

Monny 1.0.0

The first public release of Monny, a free and open-source menu bar app that shows what your Mac is doing and keeps its battery healthy while it stays plugged in.

What you can do

  • See CPU, memory, disk, network, cores and battery in one click from the menu bar, or open it with ⌥⌘M. Optionally keep CPU load, CPU temperature or battery level next to the icon.
  • Open the dashboard for Overview, CPU, Memory, Disk, Network, Battery and Sensors pages with history from 1 minute to 7 days and the busiest apps.
  • Limit charging to 80–100% with the built-in macOS charge limit and switch Optimized Battery Charging, on macOS 26.4 and later.
  • Check temperatures, fan speeds, SSD health and power draw where your Mac reports them.
  • Get notified when the charge limit is reached, the Mac runs hot, the battery is low, memory pressure is high or an app keeps the CPU busy.
  • Optionally see how much of your Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Grok limits is left.
  • Use the app in English, Russian, German, French, Spanish or Simplified Chinese.

Install

  1. Download Monny-1.0.0-52.dmg below, open it and drag Monny into Applications.
  2. Open Monny. Because the app is not notarized by Apple, macOS blocks the first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the message about Monny and confirm. Details are in the installation guide.

You can check the download against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt.

Good to know

  • Monny requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. It has been tested on an M1 Max with macOS 27; macOS 26 has had only a short check, and Intel Macs are not supported.
  • The charge limit uses the same setting as System Settings → Battery through a private macOS interface. macOS keeps enforcing it after Monny quits. If the setting cannot be read, Monny does not change it and says so.
  • Sensors differ between Mac models. A reading your Mac does not report is shown as unavailable rather than estimated.
  • Monny checks GitHub for updates and asks before installing one. Readings stay on your Mac and no analytics are sent. AI limits are off by default; when turned on, Monny asks Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor and xAI for your limits using each tool's own sign-in.
